Kampfire Kowboys
About Us

Kampfire Kowboys is a different kind of country band. The band goes back to 1997 when Tom Colton discussed an idea with his friend Dave Piper. They wanted to form a band that incorporated traditional country & western themes with the energy of a thunderous rock act. After 2 CD releases, Somewhere Blue (1998)and Stand Still(2000), they accomplished just what the doctor ordered.

Kampfire Kowboys received rave reviews with great songs that are radio ready. The press concludes: “Round up your friends and go see Kampfire Kowboys, you’d be krazy not to!” (Kane County Chronicle). “Their energetic upbeat country and folk influenced rock n’ roll makes Kampfire Kowboys the best new band in the area. Period!!” (The Pioneer Press). “Give it a whirl.” (Chicago Daily Herald). "Soulfully energetic sound" (Chicago Tribune). "Kampfire Kowboys play catchy tunes that leaves the listener feeling good." (The Copley Press). "Plenty of raw energy wrapped around a respect for the country greats like Cash, Haggard and Jennings." (Chicago Sun Times). This is truly authentic American country music!

Now back together in 2010, the band takes yet another ride on the country music wagon, adding fiddle to the line-up. This move has added another dimension to the band by allowing the act to cater to more of an authentic country audience without sacrificing their original high-energy show.

Presently the band performs numerous renditions of artists, including The Mavericks, Dwight Yoakam, Johnny Cash, and more modern country like Brad Paisley, Keith Urban and The Zac Brown Band. Kampfire Kowboys also performs such fiddle classics like Charlie Daniels’ Devil Went Down to Georgia and Orange Blossom.
