TOM COLTON - Lead Vocal and Lead Guitar

With 25 years of performing & recording experience, Tom Colton echoes familiar guitar licks ranging from the likes of Mark Knopler (Dire-Straits) to the smooth sounds of the Pretenders or the hard rockin swing of Brian Setzer. His lead vocals are strong and smooth.  Tom’s background includes playing lead guitar for Centerfold, whose claim to fame was opening for the Jeff Beck Band in 1980 and performing at the Park West. Moving on to more progressive rock, Tom contributed his lead vocal and guitar abilities to Rooster, an eight year project which logged nearly 400 club dates from 1981 to 1987. Recently, he produced and recorded a full length solo CD recorded at Short Order Recorder and engineered by Jeff Murphy (Shoes) entitled Welcome the Rain
which was introduced in 1994.   He was also chosen best guitarist by Gand Music & Sound for their 1997 CD released,
Chicago’s Finest Fingers.

Tom formed Kampfire Kowboys and recorded his 2nd CD Somewhere Blue, also recorded at Short order Recorder, and released in 1999.  Somewhere Blue received many rave reviews in the local press.  Check out the press page.

Tom produced & wrote his 3rd CD titled “Stand Still” for Kampfire Kowboys.  Stand Still was released in May 2000 and received rave reviews from the local press and music industry in general.

In 2001-2002, Tom was lead vocalist for “Big Guitars from Memphis” which played numerous concerts and festivals in and around the Chicago area.  He is also working on new original material for future endeavors.

In May, 2002, Tom formed the band Zero-260. He sang lead vocals and greatly contributed a fair share of lead guitar.  Zero 260 played a variety of classic rock, blues/swing music.  The band played numerous clubs in and around the Chicago area.

In August, 2003, Tom joined up with ”Band on the Run”, a Paul McCartney, Wings tribute band.  Ron Star, the band’s leader who coincidently, sounds like Paul McCartney, brought Tom into the show in August, 2003.  They perform all around the Chicago-land & Illinois area.  Check out their web site!

In August, 2004 Tom met up with Kimberly Kane and Big Trouble.  Kimberly, one great singer, performs a great variety of music.  The band plays a lot of classics as well like, Rolling Stones, Mellencamp to Jimi Hendrix.  This is guitar heaven from Tom’s point of view.  He also gets to sing a few songs. Please check out their web site for more info.

IIn December, 2006, Tom is back home playing with his old buddies Dave Piper and Scott Hendricks with the band The Volcanoes.  The Volcanoes play a variety of classic rock & roll tunes for any club or festival event.  Check out their web site at www.thevolcanoesband.com.

Currently, Tom is still hangin’ out with his old friends from “Centerfold”.  The band decided to get the band back together in 2008.  Previously, they were performing at the Warrenville 4th of July concerts sharing the stage with bands like,  Ides of March, Head East & American English.  Check out their web-site at www.centerfoldband.com.
